Fabrizio Romano: Manchester United Looking to Offload 28-Year-Old ‘Beast’

Eric Bailly

Manchester United can let go of three players before the end of the transfer window, confirms Fabrizio Romano. The likes of Eric Bailly, Alex Telles and Ethan Laird are all holding discussions over an exit from Old Trafford.

Three Manchester United Players Could Leave

Eric Bailly Set for Transfer Despite Pre-Season Heroics

The Ivorian centre-back was impressive in the Red Devils’ pre-season tour of Asia, putting in some commendable performances. His heroics in the 4-0 win over Liverpool even earned praise from Real Madrid defender Antonio Rudiger, who dubbed him a ‘beast’.

Despite earning fan praise, Bailly does not seem to be in Erik ten Hag’s plans for the season. Romano adds that he is attracting interest from Roma – managed by ex-United boss Jose Mourinho – as well as Fulham and another unnamed club. The 28-year-old is likely to accept a move to a club that can guarantee him regular playing time after failing to receive such assurances from the Manchester giants.

Laird Could Be Loaned

Romano also claims that youngster Ethan Laird could be going out. He has been closely linked with a move to Championship side Watford. United have held discussions with the Hornets over the move and it could be finalized soon.

The young right-back will have to finalize personal terms and undergo his medicals before being able to complete the move.

Telles Completes Move

Romano also reported that left-back Alex Telles was close to completing a move to La Liga side Sevilla, and this has now been confirmed by both clubs.

All three players featured in the pre-season games for the Red Devils, but seem to be viewed as a surplus weight for the squad. Ten Hag added two defenders in Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez to the team earlier this summer, which is why the likes of Bailly and Telles aren’t needed anymore.
