Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag wants clarity on the situation surrounding the potential transfers of Christian Eriksen and Frenkie de Jong. According to Simon Stone, the Red Devils’ boss wants both predicaments resolved before his non-international players return on Monday 27.

However, Manchester United’s move for the Danish international is unrelated to their ongoing efforts to sign De Jong this summer.

The Ongoing Issue With Frenkie de Jong

Erik ten Hag has identified the 25-year-old Barcelona midfielder as his number one transfer target, having previously worked together at Ajax. However, the Netherlands international is yet to make a decision on his future and is currently away on holiday.

It is widely reported that Barcelona are in need of generating revenue and De Jong is seen as one of the club’s most saleable assets.

Despite that, the Catalan club have already reportedly rejected a bid of €60 million, instead holding out for around €100 million to secure a departure away from the Nou Camp. The Red Devils are looking to counter with a bid of around €80 million.

Eriksen Move to Old Trafford Could Still Be On

While the option to remain at Brentford or return to Tottenham are both a possibility for Christian Eriksen, it appears the Dane is “no longer keen on signing with a London-based club.”

The 30-year-old, who is currently a free agent after initially signing a short-term deal with the Bees, has been contacted by the club as Ten Hag looks to rebuild the club’s midfield.

There is no denying the ability of Eriksen and, similarly to De Jong, he would give Manchester United’s midfield a much stronger look ahead of a new campaign.
