Revealed: How High Manchester United Are Willing to Stretch to Seal Frenkie de Jong Transfer as Deal Gets Closer

Manchester United’s Frenkie de Jong valuation has been revealed by Rob Dawson at ESPN. Manchester United would prefer a base of £50-60 million for the Dutchman before add-ons because any more would hinder their chances of upgrading the squad elsewhere. United are thought to have a budget of around £120 million, so will have to spend wisely.

A deal for the Dutchman to move to the Theatre of Dreams is edging closer, with a second offer reportedly being prepared.

The 25-year-old midfielder remains Erik ten Hag’s main priority this summer. However, a deal could still take its time due to Barcelona’s financial situation. Manchester United bosses are keen that the final price reflects the Catalans desire to sell the player. Maybe the new men at the top in Manchester are more switched on that their predecessors.

United have been rumoured to be looking at other new signings so far this window. Christian Eriksen, Antony, David Raum and Ajax’s centre backs Lisandro Martinez and Jurrien Timber have all been linked with summer moves to Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag will be looking forward to starting pre-season getting a good look at his squad. The new manager is expected to implement a completely new style and philosophy at Old Trafford which has many fans very excited.

Erik ten Hag and Manchester United have a huge gap to overcome after finishing an incredible 35 points behind winners City last campaign.

Both have long serving managers who have built their own teams in their identity and have been able to mould their squads over time. It seems that every player in those teams wants to play for the manager, which is incredible given the size and depth of both. Each have replacements all over the park that can come in and do a job. 

United must back their manager to be successful again. It won’t happen overnight or in this singular wind0w, because it didn’t for the other two clubs, but piece by piece, the Red Devils will be back.
