Manchester City Are Set to Make a Major Push to Sign Erling Haaland

Manchester City

When it comes to the most-talked-about transfer sagas, some of them are currently ongoing right now. Whether it be Kylian Mbappe’s consistent links with Real Madrid or the unknown future of Declan Rice. One of such sagas involves Erling Haaland. All of Europe’s elite are on red alert regarding the future of the Norwegian and as per Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City continue to lead the way.

Manchester City Closer to Landing Erling Haaland

What is the Latest News?

There have been a number of clubs linked with Haaland in the past twelve months, Manchester City at the front of the pack. Real Madrid are on the hunt for another Galactico signing. There is no question that the Borussia Dortmund striker fits this mould, but Mbappe may well be a priority for Florentino Perez and co. those are the two frontrunners alongside potentially Bayern Munich – a deal that would break the hearts of those in the famous Yellow Wall.

Pep Guardiola wants him “at all costs” is the word from Romano and it isn’t hard to see why given how much of a freak of nature he’s proven to be. Haaland tore it up with Salzburg and continued to do the same in the Bundesliga. Dortmund have struggled over the last year or two when it came to consistency but the once constant was the lethal Haaland. That is when he wasn’t injured, he has struggled to stay fit, particularly this season.

The Haaland name and Manchester City go hand-in-hand. Erling Haaland was actually born in Leeds back in 2000, whilst his dad Alf-Inge was playing at Elland Road. He then went on to wear the sky blue of Manchester City, hence why this move wouldn’t be all that strange. His son has even been pictured wearing shirts of the champions of England.

Where Would Haaland Fit in at Manchester City?

The question arises where Erling Haaland would fit in at Manchester City. Guardiola has been on the lookout for an out-and-out forward following the departure of Sergio Aguero, yet they have managed more than adequately with the likes of Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling taking up the slack. Harry Kane is no longer the most desirable man for the job.

Enter, Erling Haaland. He has proven for both club and country that he is more than capable of moulding to match different systems. Aguero was one of the best strikers of his generation and Haaland seems more than likely to match that for himself, or if not supersede it.

Manchester City would have to shell out a fortune if they were to capture Haaland’s signature, but it would surely be worth it all the same. “They’re making big effort” and that is what would be needed to acquire the twenty-one-year-old. The club would realistically be signing one of the world’s best for the next decade at least, surely leading them to that elusive Champions League title under Guardiola or even his successor.
