Luke Shaw Needs Operation After Old Leg Break Injury Surfaces

Luke Shaw needs operation

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw needs an operation to remove two metal bolts from his leg. These bolts originally treated his broken leg in 2015. Shaw took almost seven months to recover from the double fracture in his right leg. But manager Ralph Rangnick has hinted that the left-back has been having issues ever since relating to that old injury.

Manchester United May Lose Key Man for Three Weeks

Shaw initially revealed an issue relating to his leg on international duty last month.

Rangnick said: “Luke is still injured. We had to take him off at half-time and he’s having problems with his leg where he had his operation back in 2015.”

‘The doctor told me they decided to remove the metal things in his leg, there are two bolts that need to be removed and that will happen tomorrow.”

Shaw could miss up to three weeks of football. This means that United could be without Shaw for their upcoming matches against Liverpool, Arsenal, Everton and Norwich City.

So far this season, Shaw has racked up five assists across 27 appearances for the Red Devils. He has already suffered three absences from the Manchester United squad this season, including a hamstring injury, a bout of coronavirus and a head injury.

Everton Vs Manchester United

Shaw’s injury means United will be without four first team players ahead of their lunchtime kick off with Everton. They also have Edinson Cavani who is still out, Raphael Varane will also miss tomorrow’s fixture, along with Scott McTominay.

Everton go into the match just one point above Burnley who are in the relegation zone. It is one of two games in hand that the Toffees have on Leeds United, who sit five points above them.

Meanwhile Manchester United can jump as many as three places should they secure all three points. They are just three points off Tottenham Hotspur who are in fourth place, but the Red Devils have the far weaker goal difference, partly thanks to Spurs’ demolition job on Newcastle United last time out.
