Lage Wants to See New Faces

Wolves currently sit in ninth, chasing down the top six with the likes of Aston Villa, Brentford and Crystal Palace all vying to scrap their way out of midtable mediocrity.

The club have just one win in their last five games and manager Lage wants Wolves to add to the squad during this transfer window.

Adama Traore: Where Next?

Spurs were supposedly interested in signing Traore in the summer, but for a much larger fee than Wolves are currently demanding. Now, around £20 million would be enough to secure his services. Conte wishes to improve on the right wing-back berth. According to Dan Kilpatrick of the Evening Standard, the Tottenham boss isn’t too impressed with Emerson Royal’s recent performances, with the club looking to strengthen in the January transfer window.

West Ham United are also interested in his signature, for good reason. Traore is a physical presence in the Premier League, offering plenty of pace and power. He likes to get forward and can really cause defenders a lot of issues. But, Traore’s weakness is converting the chances that he can carve out into goals.

So far this season, Traore has made 17 Premier League appearances with no goals or assists. In his more than 300 appearances throughout his entire career, the Spaniard has scored 27 goals and assisted 53 more. This is not a world-beating return. His rumoured transfer fee of £20 million is relatively low, ‘cheap’ enough for a club to gamble on him. As a backup player, he could provide something a bit different off the bench. But he is yet to find the goalscoring formula to really become a threat going forward.

Traore has been at Wolves since the 2018/9 season, where he transferred from Middlesbrough. Before that he was playing at Aston Villa, having moved to the Midlands from Barcelona where he started his career. With six caps for Spain, he is yet to find the net for his country.

Despite some promising signs at Wolves in the past couple of seasons, his form has dipped. A new club and a new challenge could help to rejuvenate Traore.
