The Manchester United transfer focus is currently on new signings in the summer, according to Fabrizio Romano. There have been a host of rumours linking various players with a move to Old Trafford since the Red Devils hired Ralf Rangnick as an interim manager who would later take up a key role as a consultant for at least another two years. One of the names being thrown around was that of Argentine wonderkid Julian Alvarez, but Romano has confirmed that, for now, there are no conversations open to sign the 21-year-old in January.

Rangnick is a Master at Identifying Talent
Ralf Rangnick is known for his talent-spotting ability. Among the youngsters he has signed before their ability was widely known are Joshua Kimmich, Naby Keita, Sadio Mane, and the most in-demand man in world football at the moment, Erling Haaland. Interestingly, the German coach is the second consecutive Manchester United manager to have a connection with Haaland from earlier in his career, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer having played an important part in his development at Molde.
Fans of the Red Devils will hope that he continues to identify players with world-class potential, with one of the key values at Old Trafford being to develop young talent.
The 63-year-old boss has already demonstrated his faith in the youth at the Theatre of Dreams after just three games in charge. In his first, Rangnick brought on Anthony Elanga, who is just 19 years of age, when his side still needed a goal to go ahead. The Swedish attacker then started alongside fellow winger Amad Diallo, who recently returned from a long-term injury, in Rangnick’s second match at the helm: a Champions League fixture against Young Boys.
Despite this evident emphasis on youth, United are not jumping into any business under their new boss. Julian Alvarez has indeed been scouted by the Manchester Club, but as of yet, this is only monitoring, something which is common for the biggest clubs to do with the best and brightest talents.
