Antonio Conte would be open to the prospect of Manchester United‘s project should he be contacted by the club, reports Fabrizio Romano. The managerial situation at Old Trafford has become precarious in the past month, and Conte is one of the big names rumoured to be in line to replace current boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Club Vision Is Key for Conte

The Italian manager has experienced vast successes during his 15-year-long career. He has managed all three of Juventus, Chelsea, and most recently Inter Milan, winning the domestic league at least once in each of these ventures.

Just days after leading Inter to their first Serie A title in 11 years, though, Conte terminated his contract with the side. While nothing has been confirmed with regards to the nature of his resignation, the club’s president said the reason behind the impromptu end to Conte’s stay at the San Siro was the two having “different ideas”. Ultimately, the then 51-year-old was unhappy with where the Inter hierarchy saw the club going, and so wasted no time in parting ways with his former employer.

The club project represented equal importance in the Italian’s rumoured move to Tottenham Hotspur last summer. After sacking Jose Mourinho, the North London side were searching for a manager, and it appeared that Conte’s resignation in Milan could not have come at a better time for them. While a deal seemed to be virtually complete, it ended up collapsing, with the former Chelsea manager revealing that he was unhappy with the project put forward to him by the Spurs board. Conte is still yet to get back into management, but the Manchester United job could provide the perfect opportunity for him.

Despite his great work building a talented and promising squad over the past three years, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is treading on thin ice having hit a run of poor form recently. Sunday’s embarrassing 5-0 loss to arch-rivals Liverpool plunged the Norwegian’s job into deep uncertainty, and while the board are yet to meet to discuss his future, a decision will be made in the coming days.
