AFC Bournemouth are closing in on their fourth signing of the summer, with Manchester City wonderkid Morgan Rogers set to join the South Coast side according to Mark McAdam. The deal would initially be a season-long loan, but Bournemouth would also have the option to sign the attacker permanently for just £9 million.
Rogers impressed last season on loan with League One side Lincoln City, and appears to be the Cherries’ choice as a replacement for Villarreal-bound Arnaut Danjuma, who recently announced his departure from the club.
This is not the only piece of major Bournemouth transfer news to have emerged in recent hours, though, with Champions League and Premier League winner Gary Cahill set for a medical with the club today.

Impressive Last Season
Rogers was very impressive during the second part of last campaign.
The 19-year-old moved to Lincoln City on loan at the start of January 2021, and made an almost immediate impact by scoring the winner in a vital game against promotion rivals Portsmouth, just his third appearance for his new club.
He continued to perform throughout the remainder of the season, winning League One’s Player of the Month award for March despite then being only 18 years of age.
Although The Imps were narrowly beaten to promotion by a powerful Blackpool side in the playoff final, their 2020/21 campaign can certainly be considered a success. Rogers was an undroppable part of this team, and his influence was invaluable to the Northern England club.
Replacing Danjuma Won’t Be Easy
Arnaut Danjuma was the shining light in Bournemouth’s poor season last year.
After being top of the Championship at Christmas, Jason Tindall led his side on a shocking run of form which eventually resulted in his sacking. While Jonathan Woodgate did an exemplary job steadying the ship after joining the club in a coaching capacity only two days before being appointed caretaker manager, he was unable to lead the Cherries back to the Premier League, being knocked out of the playoffs by Brentford.
Danjuma was one of the few players who stood out over the course of this campaign, but he has now joined Villarreal.
Scott Parker will look to put the responsibility of replacing the Dutchman at least partly on Rogers’ shoulders, should the deal go through, and this may work wonders for the 19-year-old’s development.
