Roma Complete Tammy Abraham Signing

Busy Week for Chelsea in Transfer Market

The sale of Abraham continues a busy week of action for Chelsea in the transfer market. Just prior to their deal with Roma, Chelsea had completed a deal with another Italian side. Signing former Premier League star Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan, the Blues’ added even more talent to their already quality-filled squad.

However, the arrival of Lukaku left little room for Tammy Abraham. A former star striker for the club, Abraham had fallen out of favor since the arrival of manager Thomas Tuchel. Making just 12 league starts for the Blues last season, Abraham was clearly low in the pecking order. The move to Roma now gives Abraham a chance to restart his career with a top club in Serie A.

Roma Make Another Splash

The signing of Abraham by Roma continued a recent trend of high-profile moves for the Italian club. Earlier in the summer, Roma hired former Premier League and Champions League-winning manager Jose Mourinho. A move to reinvigorate the club following the side’s seventh-place finish in Serie A last season.

With a strong desire to bring Champions League football back to the Italian capital, Roma have now made a couple of big splashes this summer. The signing of Tammy Abraham is just another step in this process. However, based on his past quality, Abraham could soon prove to be one of the best signings in the club’s history.

Despite his lack of game time last season, Abraham still managed to score a club-high 12 goals last season. While a way’s off his 18 goal performance the season before, Abraham continued to show his high talent ceiling and quality. Now moving to Serie A, Abraham will be expected to not only star for Roma but continue his high goal production.
