Southampton have completed the signing of Armando Broja from Chelsea. The 19-year-old joins the Saints on a season-long loan and is expected to feature sooner rather than later at St.Mary’s as the Premier League season begins.

Another Chelsea Youngster Joins the Saints

Joining the race for Broja late on, Southampton managed to overtake Italian club Udinese in the race for the young Albanian. Broja now becomes the third Chelsea youngster to join the Saints this summer. The England-born forward joins Tino Livramento and Dynel Simeu in making the move from London to the South Coast side.

Like his fellow former Chelsea youngsters, Broja is expected to play a big role this season for Southampton. With other forward players rumoured to be following Danny Ings out the door, Broja has the opportunity to step right into a first-team role for Southampton. However, filling the boots of Ings will be no easy task, especially with Southampton also close to a move for Blackburn’s Adam Armstrong.

Armando Broja: Another Highly Touted Chelsea Youngster

That said, the early expectation is that Armando Broja will be up for the challenge. Based on his past performances, the Albanian international could quickly become one of Southampton’s most important signings. Earning his first six caps for Albania last year, Broja’s 2020/21 season proved to be a breakout campaign for the youngster.

Playing on-loan last season for Dutch side Vitesse, Broja became one of the club’s most important players. He made 34 appearances for the club, scoring 11 times. Adding three assists to that total, the 19-year-old forward quickly developed into a solid all-around player. Throw in his performance’s for Chelsea’s youth sides and Broja has the potential to be a top Premier League striker this season.
