Arsenal are considering to pursue a deal for Inter Milan and Argentina international Lautaro Martinez, as reported by The Athletic.
The 23-year-old has netted 37 times in exactly 100 appearances for the Italian champions since his 2018 move from Racing Club.
Martinez has also excelled at international level too, scoring 14 goals in 29 games. The young forward was integral to his nation’s Copa America success in July, featuring six times and scoring three times in the process.

The Athletic’s report states that The Gunners have held a long-term interest in Inter’s front man, but a move before this summer has always been deemed unrealistic.
But with Arsenal locked in negotiations with Inter regarding a deal for Hector Bellerin, it appears that the London club have enquired about Martinez’s availability.
Tottenham Hotspur have also been an interested party in recent times, with The Athletic’s report confirming that they remain in the hunt. However, this would only be if Harry Kane departs this summer.
In similar fashion but not on the same level, any Arsenal move for Martinez may become reliant on Alexandre Lacazette’s future. According to The Athletic, The Gunners have mentioned the Frenchman to Inter but the Italian giants are seemingly after cash.
The Financial Details Within the Move
At Inter currently, Martinez’s contract sees him earn €2.5 million per annum – a figure that is less than half what Romelu Lukaku, Christian Eriksen and Alexis Sanchez make.
It is expected that if Arsenal do make their move, they will need to offer a wage that is significantly higher than what he is already on. Martinez is now a Scudetto and Copa America winner, adding more value this summer.
Inter need to sell players this summer and it seems that Martinez is a player who would earn the club a reasonable amount of money.
