Arsenal Await Reply From Reiss Nelson After New Contract Offer

Reiss Nelson Has Attracted Interest From England and Greece

The Gunners have offered the 21-year-old a deal that would last until 2024, and intend to send him out on loan as soon as possible after the contract is signed. Nelson’s current deal expires at the end of next season.

According to Romano, three English clubs have been in contact with Nelson about a potential move. Olympiacos have also been in touch with Nelson’s representatives. James Benge of CBS Sports has suggested that West Ham are one of the English clubs trying to sign Nelson and that German sides are also interested in him.

Romano confirmed the news in a tweet that read: “Arsenal have offered Reiss Nelson a new contract until 2024 to send him on loan immediately after (current one expires in 11 months). Nelson has not accepted yet as he’s looking for other options. #AFC Olympiacos and three English clubs already contacted Nelson to sign him.”

Nelson is Searching for Other Avenues

The winger has made 22 appearances for Arsenal and spent the 2018-19 season on loan at Hoffenheim. After scoring seven goals in 23 appearances at the Bundesliga club, he has attracted interest from several German outfits.

Despite impressing in the early part of his time with Arsenal’s senior team and with Hoffenheim, Nelson last featured for Arsenal in an FA Cup game in January. A lack of opportunities with Mikel Arteta’s side appears to be driving Nelson’s interest in a move away from the club he joined in 2007.

CBS Sports have previously reported that Nelson is on a list of potential sales to help fund the club’s transfer activity this summer. Nelson appears to be uninterested in Arsenal’s attempts to get a bigger transfer fee for a potential sale, and looking for a way out of the Emirates.
