Swansea City are targetting a move for Wigan Athletic striker Kyle Joseph, reports Ian Mitchelmore of Wales Online. The teenager is also reportedly interesting the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United in the Premier League as well as Rangers and Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.

Joseph’s contract at the DW Stadium expires this summer following a brilliant breakthrough season with the Latics. He helped Wigan secure an unlikely survival in difficult circumstances for the club, scoring five goals in 20 appearances.
Being out of contract, Swansea would not have to pay a transfer fee for the forward. However, as he is under the age of 24, they would have to agree on a compensation deal with Wigan.
Despite the Swans’ interest, they face tough competition in the pursuit of Joseph. As well as the aforementioned Premier League and Scottish Premiership suitors, recently-relegated Sheffield United have also been credited with an interest, as have Swansea’s current Championship counterparts Preston North End.
Mitchelmore also reports that Steve Cooper’s side were assessing Joseph in the January transfer window but now want to try and make a permanent move for the 19-year-old.
Tottenham had also been linked with Joseph earlier in the year, while the Daily Record reported back in March that Joseph was “closing in” on a move to Celtic.
Swans Next Season
After being beaten by Brentford in the Championship play-off final last weekend, Swansea are already starting to prepare for next season.
Although they are yet to officially issue their released and retained list, they are set to lose Wayne Routledge, Andre Ayew and Kieron Freeman ahead of next season.
Ayew in particular has been influential for Swansea after being brought back into the fold by Steve Cooper, establishing himself as one of the best players in the Championship.
