What Was Said?
Speaking to the club website about his signing, Burton manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink said: “We’ve been looking for a centre back throughout the whole of the transfer window.
“He has lots of experience and has played lots of games in higher leagues.
“I’m very happy that he is signing with us.”
Mancienne himself added: “It’s obviously a pleasure to be here and I’m really grateful that the manager has given me the opportunity to join and help with the battle.
“I know how to see out games and what the team has to do to win games, so I hope to bring that experience with me.”
Mancienne’s Career
Although Mancienne started out at Chelsea, the bulk of his early experience came in loan spells at Queens Park Rangers and Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he made over 120 combined appearances.
He then completed a permanent departure from Chelsea, signing for German side Hamburger. He returned to England three years later to sign for Nottingham Forest.
Four years and 134 appearances in the East Midlands later, Mancienne left the country again to sign for New England in the USA, where he spent three seasons.
