Ipswich Town defender Janoi Donacien has joined league rivals Fleetwood Town on loan for the rest of the season.
Donacien is a vastly experienced, versatile defender at just 27 years of age. He is Fleetwood’s second January signing following the arrival of Kyle Vassell last week.

Donacien Hasn’t Featured for Ipswich This Season
A product of the Aston Villa academy, Donacien has racked up over 200 career appearances since leaving the Premier League side. His best spell since leaving Villa was at Accrington Stanley where he made 45 appearances as John Coleman’s side secure the League Two title.
His impressive displays earned him a move to Ipswich Town in 2018. However, injuries have limited his time at Portman Road. In two-and-half years at Ipswich, Donacien has only 23 league appearances. None have come this season with Paul Lambert dropping him down the pecking order.
Donacien can play across all the defensive positions. He is comfortable in a three, four or five and certainly offers a strong physical presence at the back.
Donacien arrives hoping to get some much-needed game time at Fleetwood. He joins a Fleetwood side having an indifferent season and still yet to appoint a permanent replacement for Joey Barton. Donacien will fill the void left by Sam Stubbs who completed a permanent move to Exeter City yesterday.
He could make his Fleetwood debut against Wigan Athletic tomorrow in a game Fleetwood will be targeting victory. The Cod Army are seven points off the play-offs and need to put together a consistent run of results.
Donacien Ready for New Challenge at Fleetwood
Speaking to the Fleetwood website about his move, Donacien said: “I was ready to come up here and play.
“I spoke to the manager and speaking to him made me want to come here, it helped me with my decision so much. I got a really good vibe from Simon [Wiles], the way he wants to play, and where he sees the club going forward and that was it for me.
“Every day is a learning experience, but I have loved it here so far, starting with the talk I had with the manager yesterday, everyone has been really welcoming to me. I know Sam [Finley], I was at Accrington with Sam, so that helps.
“I love playing football, I’ll play wherever the manager will want to play me, I’ve always said this. I’m happy to play anywhere but I am a right-back at the end of the day so that is where I want to be playing.”
