Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will sign a new three-year contract with the club imminently, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Remain With Arsenal
Aubameyang Accepts Arsenal Contract
Negotiations between Aubameyang and Arsenal have been ongoing for months, However, the work of Mikel Arteta and Aubameyang’s father were crucial in finalising the deal.
The positive relationship between Arteta, Aubameyang and his father appears to have convinced the Gunners talisman to stay at the Emirates until 2023.
With just 12 months remaining on his current contract, which expires in June 2021, Aubameyang’s future in North London was in the balance. According to the report, both Inter Milan and Barcelona expressed interest in Aubameyang earlier in the transfer window.
Monumental Signing for Arteta
Securing the services of Aubameyang for another three years is a highly important piece of business for Arteta and Arsenal. The 31-year-old proved his importance to the Gunners since joining the club from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018.
Aubameyang established himself as Arsenal’s top-scorer. In just over 100 games for the club, the Gabon striker has found the net 71 times and provided a further 15 assists for team-mates.
His importance to the club was reflected when he was given the armband in November 2019. The club was in disarray under former manager Unai Emrey. Granit Xhaka was stripped of the captaincy following a petulant display against Crystal Palace. As a result, this led to Aubamyenag stepping up and led the Gunners through a tough period on the pitch.
The 31-year-old flourished under Arteta too. He scored six goals in his first seven appearances after Arteta joined the club in December 2019.
The Spanish coach has been keen to keep Aubameyang at the club since his arrival.
