Real Madrid are reportedly prepared to fund half of Gareth Bale’s wages in pursuit of off-loading the 31-year-old this summer. According to Mike McGrath of the Telegraph, Los Blancos are looking to ease the financial burden that Bale has on Madrid and help interested parties in affording the Welshman.
Although Bale is not part of Zinedine Zidane’s plans for the 20/21 campaign, he is still Madrid’s highest earner. He earns £600,000 a week with the Spanish giants and still has two years left on his contract.

Gareth Bale arrived at the Santiago Berneabeu as the world’s most expensive player. His £85 million move from Tottenham Hotspur was followed with much hype and expectation, and rightly so. Although the Welshman scored on his debut, his start to the season was met with injuries and criticism from Real fans.
However, his fortunes changed as the season was drawing to a close. Following two brilliant and vitally important goals in the Copa del Rey and Champions League Finals, the Welsh winger emerged as a hero. In the 3 years that followed, Bale enjoyed regular game-time with Los Blancos and more European success.
The rollercoaster of a ride that is Gareth bale’s career took another turn at the start of the 2017/18 season. During the summer in 2017, Real Madrid were considering selling the 31-year-old. The rise of Isco and Marco Asensio meant that Bale was no longer seen as indispensable at the club. Coupled with the frequency of the winger’s injuries, his future at Madrid looked over.

Despite Real Madrid offering of half of Bale’s wages, most clubs still would not be able to afford him. Although a move broke down to China last year, it does not seem that he will want the move this time around.
Instead the Welsh international has said that he would be open to a return to the premier league, saying, “If those options arise (interest from Premier League clubs) it is something I’d look at for sure.”
It will certainly be a transfer saga to keep an eye on as the Welshman looks to finally swap the bench of Madrid for guaranteed game time.
