Arsenal have reached an agreement with Real Madrid for Dani Ceballos to return on loan to The Emirates, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Dani Ceballos to Return to Arsenal on Loan
Keen to Re-Sign
The Gunners were keen to re-sign the Spaniard after a successful loan last season.
According to Romano, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was keen on striking a deal for the 24-year-old. Furthermore, Ceballos was also keen to return to North London.
As a result, a deal has now been put in place for him to return for a second season. While there was interest from other clubs, Ceballos was insistent on returning to The Emirates.
The Spaniard made 37 appearances for Arsenal last season, registering two assists and two goals. However, he played a more important role at the base of the midfielder; Ceballos completed almost three key passes per game and finished the season with a pass completion rate of 90.1%. Furthermore, he also averaged two tackles per game.
Excellent Addition
The return of Ceballos may prove to be an excellent addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
The Arsenal boss is working on a tight budget, with the Coronavirus pandemic – as well as not qualifying for the Champions League – hampering their finances.
As a result, the Gunners are having to be clever with their business in the transfer market. The return of the Ceballos will help Arteta implement his style of play, which is similar to what the midfielder has been used to at Madrid.
More to Come?
Romano has also hinted that Arsenal are close to announcing the signing of defender Gabriel, as well as a new contract for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Signing a new centre-back, as well as tying Aubameyang down to a new deal, will be pivotal if Arsenal are to be successful in the forthcoming season.
