REPORT: Eight Chelsea Players in Quarantine

Chelsea quarantine

Chelsea have been dealt a massive blow to their pre-season preparations as eight of their first-team squad have gone into coronavirus quarantine. This comes with the Premier League set to begin in just three weeks time.

Chelsea Have Eight Players in Quarantine

Six Chelsea Players Understood To Have Tested Positive

According to The Telegraph’s Sam Wallace, six of Frank Lampard‘s squad have the virus whilst two more are self-isolating due to being in close contact with them.

The identities of the six who tested positive for the coronavirus are currently unknown.

Quarantine Creates Big Problem For Chelsea Boss Lampard

Eight Chelsea players are currently missing from training due to quarantine requirements, however, it is unclear whether these players are those who have tested positive.

The players known to be in quarantine are Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Christian Pulisic and Fikayo Tomori. The four players recently holidayed on the Greek island of Mykonos; social media posts show that the teammates met up with each other whilst on holiday.

Yet, it appears that first-team stars Jorginho, Emerson, Ross Barkley and Michy Batshuayi are all under quarantine too.

None of the eight have returned for pre-season training at their Cobham training ground. It is likely that they will undertake training alone, similar to the protocol at the start of Project Restart.

Frank Lampard’s side will begin their season on September 14th with a visit to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Quarantine Headache For Both Lampard and Southgate

It isn’t just Frank Lampard that will be impacted by the players now facing two weeks of quarantine.

On Tuesday, both Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham were picked by England boss Gareth Southgate for the upcoming Nations League games.

The Three Lions face Iceland and Denmark next month, however, the Chelsea duo’s places in the squad now look uncertain.
