Wolfsburg have made a signing for their future with the acquisition of Bartosz Bialek from Zagłębie Lubin. The 18-year-old Polish striker has joined the Bundesliga club on a four-year deal.
Wolfsburg Sign Bartosz Bialek
A Top Talent
It only took one season in the Ekstraklasa for Bialek to make an impact. He scored nine goals and registered four assists in 19 appearances in Poland’s top flight. A very impressive season for a player that is only 18.
Internationally, Bialek has represented Poland’s U-19 team on numerous occasions. He has scored three goals in seven appearances for the youth team.
By signing Bialek, Wolfsburg have secured a player that has the potential to develop into a top striker in the seasons to come. Having only spent one season in a top division, he certainly will still have room for growth, too, as he looks to make his mark in Germany.
Looking Ahead
Despite the arrival of the Polish forward, Wout Weghorst will remain Wolfsburg’s main option at striker entering the upcoming season. The Dutch forward was one of the most effective strikers in the Bundesliga during the 2019/20 season. He scored 16 goals in 32 appearances to lead the way for the Wolfsburg.
Weghorst is under contract at Wolfsburg until the end of the 2022/23 season. When the time comes for Weghorst to depart the club, Bialek could be the player waiting to take over the role of the main striker.
With Weghorst leading the way, there shouldn’t be too much pressure for Bialek to produce for the club immediately. This is a signing for the future and not one they will look to for an immediate impact.
