Brighton & Hove Albion manager Graham Potter has said that he is keen to see Ben White return to the Amex Stadium following his impressive loan spell with Leeds United.
Graham Potter Keen to See Ben White Stay With Brighton & Hove Albion
Impressive Loan Spell
White has impressed during his loan spell with Leeds United this season.
The 22-year-old has been credited as a major reason for the excellent defensive displays under Marcelo Bielsa this season. The Championship champions have conceded just 34 goals so far this season, and White has featured in all 44 games.
His calmness and eagerness to play the ball out from the back has suited the style of play that Bielsa has looked to develop at Elland Road. White’s defensive displays in his first season in the Championship has seen him linked with a move to Liverpool.
Potter Keen to Keep Him
There had been a small ounce of hope that Leeds would be able to keep White for the 2020/21 season. However, Graham Potter has confirmed that the Seagulls are keen to keep him on the South Coast.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the Brighton boss said: “He’s contracted with us and he’s on loan at Leeds. He’s our player.
“It’s fantastic he’s had this year with Leeds. I think everybody won. Ben got some great experience; Leeds achieved their goal of promotion.
“But we rate him highly. We like him a lot. He’s a really good player and thankfully he’s our player. (Next season) he’ll be competing for a place like everyone else.”
The 22-year-old will certainly face plenty of competition at the Amex Stadium. Lewis Dunk remains the first-choice centre-back under Graham Potter.
However, a place alongside the Brighton captain could potentially still be up for grabs. The Seagulls have alternated between a back four and a back three this season, with Adam Webster, Dan Burn and Shane Duffy all fighting for places.
