Promotion is Within Touching Distance
A return to the Premier League is within touching distance. Years worth of hurt and clambering between the second and third tiers of English football is almost over.
Beating Swansea would see Marcelo Bielsa’s side created a three-point gap over second-placed West Bromwich Albion. It would also create a six-point gap between them and Brentford, who currently sit in third, just outside of the automatic promotion spots. Six points, in the closing stages of the Championship season, is a big as to overturn.
As a result, a win would see talk of promotion only increase, but ease the nerves slightly at Elland Road.
Swansea Still Have Plenty to Play For
A win for the Swans would see them leapfrog arch rivals Cardiff City and into the last play-off spot.
Reaching the play-offs would be an excellent achievement for Steve Cooper in his first season in charge at the Liberty Stadium. The former England youth manager has got a young Swans side beaming with confidence, and despite periods of inconsistency, they remain in with a shout of the play-offs.
Team News
A 5-0 over Stoke City in midweek is likely to mean an unchanged lineup for Leeds. Marcelo Bielsa only tinkers when he feels that it is necessary, and after a perfect performance, that is unlikely.
Swansea City are also in a similar position following their 3-1 win over Birmingham City on Wednesday. Steve Cooper confirmed that there was no new injury concerns among his squad.
Prediction
While there is pressure on both teams, Leeds are likely to feel it more at the Liberty Stadium. However, the dominant Whites are likely to take control of large portions of the game, and have enough strength to overcome Swansea.
