Captain Staying On
Now in his second spell at the club, McAnuff has made 76 league appearances since rejoining the O’s from Stevenage in 2017. He captained the side to the National League title in 2018/19, as well as playing in the FA Trophy final at Wembley.
This season has been a struggle for the skipper, with injury problems severely limiting his time on the pitch. He made just one appearance this season in League Two, coming on as a substitute in the 2-1 victory over Mansfield Town.
McAnuff will be looking to prove that he can still play at this level next season, even at 38-years-old, and will try to help the O’s further solidify their status as a League Two club.
What Was Said?
Speaking to the club website about his new deal, McAnuff said: “Last year, as everyone knows, was frustrating. I worked really hard to get back to playing, and I’ve got a lot of work again to get to the level I want to get to.
“I don’t just want to be a bit part or be here for the ride, I want to contribute, that’s a big, big thing for me.
“I’m absolutely delighted to get it all done, and stay at the club for at least another year.”
