Eoin Doyle Offered New Deal By Swindon Town

Eoin Doyle

League Two’s top scorer for the 2019/20 season Eoin Doyle has been offered a new deal by Swindon Town. The 32-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan from Bradford City before making the move permanent in January on a deal until the end of the season. However, reports suggest that Doyle is set to remain in League Two and he is not short of options.

Eoin Doyle Offered New Contract By Swindon Town

Making a Move Elsewhere?

Doyle scored 25 goals in League Two this season, 11 more than the next top scorer, Mansfield Town’s Nicky Maynard.

It’s not clear why the majority of the offers coming in for Doyle are from League Two. The only League One club that seem keen on having him are Swindon themselves.

Liam Norcliffe of the Derbyshire Times reports that Mansfield Town are interested in bringing in the Irishman. This is despite them signing two strikers already this week in Jordan Bowery and Jamie Reid.

Alan Nixon of The Sun also reports that Salford City and newly-relegated Bolton Wanderers are interested in the striker.

Swindon Keen to Keep Hold of Squad

A large number of Swindon’s title-winning squad have their contracts expiring. As well as Doyle, 11 other players have been offered the chance to stay at the club for the 2020/21 campaign.

They are:

  • Zeki Fryers
  • Mathieu Baudry
  • Lloyd Isgrove
  • Luke McCormick
  • Ellis Iandolo
  • Keshi Anderson
  • Kaiyne Woolery
  • Jordan Lyden
  • Archie Matthews
  • Luke Haines
  • Anthony Grant

The club are also in discussions with Danny Rose but have not yet offered formal terms to the player.

Jacob Bancroft, Joe Romanski, Will Henry and Ralph Graham will all leave the club after they were not offered new contracts.

Eleven players still remain under contract for Swindon, though, giving them a good base to start from in terms of building their team for the third tier next season.
