The winger signs a contract extension which will see him wear the Claret and Blue kit until June 2021. This was announced on the club website earlier today.
Robbie Brady Signs A One-Year Contract Extension For Burnley
Burnley have exercised a 12-month option in the Republic of Ireland international’s contract.
Brady joined the Claret and Blue’s in January 2017 for a club-record fee of £13 million.
Brady’s Clarets Career
The winger has seen limited time at Turf Moor due to injury issues but, has displayed brilliance when on the pitch.
So far he has made a total of 63 appearances for Burnley five goals and getting eight assists.
Injuries have plagued the winger. In addition, the emergence of Dwight McNeil has been impressive and limited the Irishman’s game time.
The former Hull City player returned to non-contact training with the rest of the Clarets squad this week as part of the Premier League’s plans to resume the season in June after the coronavirus shutdown.
Sean Dyche’s Thoughts on Brady’s Contract Extension
Burnley manager Sean Dyche has commented on Brady’s stay at Burnley:
“He’s had a bit of a tough time with injuries, unfortunately,” said the Burnley boss.
“Hopefully, this break will give him another chance to get another block of fitness in to be ready for when this starts again.
“In the meantime, we have taken an option on him because we thought it was the right thing to do for now and for going forwards for next season.”
Burnley’s Fortunes This Season
Currently, Burnley sit in tenth place in the Premier League on 39 points with ten games to play.
Dyche’s men performed well in spells this season like drawing with Arsenal and Tottenham closer to the end of the season before it was cancelled due to Coronavirus.
Burnley beat the likes of Manchester United and Leicester in January which showed that Dyche’s men are willing to fight against the big dogs.
They are only six points away from fifth and can finish anywhere between fifth and 14th if the season is finished.
