Olivier Giroud commented on him putting pen to paper on the new deal:
‘I am delighted to continue my journey and adventure at Chelsea. I can’t wait to get back to playing and enjoying competitive football with my team-mates. I’m looking forward to wearing the Chelsea shirt again, especially in front of our fans at a full Stamford Bridge, whenever it is safe to do so.’

Prior to the pause in the season due to the pandemic, Giroud had again emphasised his importance to the squad by taking on the responsibility of leading the attack with Tammy Abraham injured, and making a significant contribution.
He also found the net in a win against Tottenham in February and helped Chelsea knock Liverpool out the FA Cup the following month.

Willy Caballero seemed delighted to have signed a new deal when he spoke to Chelsea FC:
‘I am very happy to make this announcement. It is a privilege to be part of this Chelsea squad and the Chelsea family, at one of the most historic clubs in the Premier League.
‘It is a difficult time for everyone right now so I feel blessed by this opportunity and truly appreciate it. I want to thank my team-mates for helping me to be my best and I want to thank the boss and the club for extending my contract. I’m sure they will continue to demand the maximum from me and I will compete with the same energy as always. I am very happy.’
The goalkeeper has featured nine times in the 19/20 in between the sticks with his latest appearance being in a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth at the end of February.
