John Ruddy

Wolverhampton Wanderers have triggered a contract extension for second-choice goalkeeper John Ruddy. The move will see him stay at Molineux for at least another season.

Time at the Club

Ruddy joined Wolves from Norwich City in 2017, becoming the replacement for Carl Ikeme after his diagnosis with cancer.

He became the first choice at the club and helped them earn promotion to the Premier League in his first season. His biggest moment of that campaign came away at Cardiff City, who ran Wolves all the way for the Championship title. With Wolves clinging onto a 1-0 lead, Ruddy saved an injury-time penalty from Gary Madine to preserve their lead and see them hold on for the points.

Upon their promotion to the top flight, Ruddy dropped down to second choice owing to the signing of Portugal international Rui Patricio. However, he has proved to be an able back-up in his time on the fringes.

Two Players Depart

The club have also confirmed that Jordan Graham and Phil Ofosu-Ayeh have left the club.

Graham looked to be a hot prospect during his early career with Wolves, but injuries often led to him being loaned out to rebuild fitness and he only appeared sporadically for the club.

Ofosu-Ayeh, meanwhile, was the second signing made by boss Nuno Espirito Santo. However, he leaves having not made a single appearance for the club, instead spending seasons on loan at German sides Hansa Rostock and Wurzburger Kickers.

Academy Latest

Four youth players have been retained for the U23 squad. Jamie Pardington, Cameron John, Sadou Diallo and Taylor Perry will continue their respective developments with the club.

However, Conor Johnson, Callum Thompson, Ming-yang Yang and Todd Parker have not had their stays extended and will depart.
