Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Drops Positive Hint on Manchester United Summer Transfer Plans

What Solskjaer Said

Recently, Solskjaer spoke to Sky Sports about the future of transfers for his team, with the current pandemic having thrown it into uncertainty.

“I think Mason [Greenwood], Anthony [Martial] and Marcus [Rashford] have been fantastic this season, they’ve scored up to 50 goals between them,” Solskjaer told the company’s football show.

“Marcus got his injury, on course for his best season, Anthony too, and Mason, of course, is just a unique talent with his goal-scoring ability.

“But we’re always looking to improve the squad. This uncertainty in the market now, who knows how football and the market is going to be, but I’m very happy with the squad I’ve got.

“Today’s world is different to what it was two months ago. We’ve got to adjust, adapt, there’s clubs out there struggling more than us financially.

“It’s a new world, and I think the transfer market this summer will be completely different to what anyone thought it would be.”

What This Could Mean for United’s Summer

While saying that he was happy with the squad he has, Solskjaer also admitted that any improvements would be great and that there are clubs struggling much more than United.

As one of the biggest, most financially powerful football teams in the world, the Red Devils will have a lot of power over their negotiations this summer with most, if not all, of clubs they negotiate with desperate for money. This gives a lot of hope to fans, who are intent on their current targets.

The most popular, and arguably the most needed, reported transfer target for the summer is Borussia Dortmund youngster, Jadon Sancho. The Englishman would be a game-changing acquisition, giving the Red Devils a world-class right-winger to add to their already exceptional attack. The German outfit are holding out for a fee of over £100 million, but having splashed theIr cash on Norwegian wonderkid Erling Braut Håland in January, they may need to raise capital, and selling Sancho to willing buyers might be the best way to do so.

Other targets include Jack Grealish and Jude Bellingham, both of whom play for clubs who will be financially struggling come the summer, and the Red Devils may be able to use this to leverage a better deal than was previously expected.
