The Complicated Paul Pogba Situation
Paul Pogba, who re-joined the Red Devils in 2016 for a then world-record fee, has caused quite the conundrum at Old Trafford.
The Frenchman has not had the impact that so many thought he could make upon his arrival and has been linked with a move away from Manchester for some time now.
Last season, he finally seemed to find some form, with 13 goals and nine assists in the Premier League. It looked as if Pogba could finally have found the form which earned him an £89 million move to Old Trafford.
However, this season he has struggled due to injury. The 27-year-old has played just seven league matches this season, trying to negotiate a recurring ankle injury.
His absence has shown for the Manchester side, however, especially in the season’s earlier part. United were void of creativity, not able to provide for the quality they had up-front. Despite some good games, the Red Devils could not put together any good form. Until Bruno Fernandes joined.
Since the Portuguese international made his debut, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s have not lost any of their 11 matches. Furthermore, he has brought the flare and passion which United were truly lacking, something needed both to get results and excite the fans.
The signing of Bruno Fernandes has been a brilliant one, and could make up for Paul Pogba’s absence should he depart in the summer.
The Potential Impact of Federico Valverde
Federico Valverde could be another player to help the Red Devils deal with the absence of their record signing.
Valverde has become an important part of the Real Madrid side since making his debut in 2017. This season he has shown his versatility too, playing in centre and defensive-midfield, and on the right too.
Although his preferred position is in the middle, Valverde has the capability to play out wide, making him a very useful addition.
United have added him to their wishlist, hoping that the 21-year-old could become a part of the future of the club.
