Dean Henderson’s Impressive Season so far

Dean Henderson has impressed greatly in his most recent loan spell with Sheffield United. Having helped in their promotion season last year, the young Englishman returned for their Premier League return. He has been one of their star players in a season nobody could have foretold. The Blades currently sit seventh, but with a game in hand where a win would take them fifth. Despite the great uncertainty surrounding the Premier League season currently, this campaign will go down as a success for them regardless.

Henderson has ten clean sheets in the league this season, putting him second behind Burnley ‘keeper Nick Pope. With a genuine opportunity at getting the Golden Glove trophy in his first Premier League season, alongside a potential England call up, Henderson’s season will also go down as a great success.

A Fresh Deal For Dean Henderson at Manchester United

Manchester United will reportedly offer the 23-year-old a new contract. It would be in the region of £100k per week, putting him up to one of United’s highest-paid players. This would be his fourth professional contract at Old Trafford, showing their commitment to him.

While his current deal runs until 2022, the report suggests that the new contract would require at least one additional year.

Chelsea’s Goalkeeping Needs

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has fallen out of favour at Stamford Bridge. The Spaniard refused to come off the field of play last February, to the anger of then manager Maurizio Sarri, and has not since been up to the standard Chelsea need. Recently, 38-year-old Willy Caballero has been the preferred choice in goal. However, he is a temporary fix and the Blues are looking for a permanent deal in the summer.

Dean Henderson remains on their wishlist, but with him having shown his commitment to United previously, and the Red Devils’ new contract offering, the London outfit may have to look elsewhere to fix their goalkeeping troubles.
