REPORT: Odion Ighalo Could Become a Permanent Transfer at Manchester United

Odion Ighalo

Odion Ighalo is currently on loan at Manchester United until the end of the season, but reports suggest that depending on his performances, he could earn himself a permanent move.

Manchester United May Make Odion Ighalo Loan Move Permanent

Joining United

The injury of Marcus Rashford early in January left Manchester United without a prolific goal scorer. Anthony Martial has not been on top form, and Mason Greenwood is too young for United to rely on him as the lead striker.

Due to this, Manchester United had to sign a striker during the January transfer window. While they were linked with some big names, the Red Devils ended up with someone who has never played in either the Europa League or the Champions League: Odion Ighalo.

Although he has played Premier League football with Watford, the Nigerian does not have experience at the very top. United secured his loan on deadline day, but he is yet to feature for the reds.

Fears of Odion Ighalo Spreading the Coronavirus

With Ighalo having moved from China, there were fears among many that he could spread the Coronavirus in the UK. While he did not have to be in quarantine, United did not allow Ighalo access to Carrington, their main training facility, until Sunday, when he trained there for the first time. Furthermore, he did not go on the Reds’ warm-weather training camp for fear that he may not be able to return to England due to the coronavirus Risk.

Potential Debut for Odion Ighalo

Odion Ighalo was named on the bench for this evening’s match against Chelsea. He travelled with United to London and will be hopeful of featuring for the club he has supported since childhood. In the reverse fixture, the Red Devils beat the Blues 4-0, and Ighalo will hope that this game goes a similar way and that he may be able to score on his debut.
