The Deal

Stevenage announced via their website they had signed the defender. Reading arrives on a permanent deal from Middlesbrough on a deal until the end of the season. He is Stevenage’s final signing of the window, as stated on the club’s website.

The full-back arrives from Middlesbrough seeking first-team football. He will arrive determined to help Stevenage escape relegation. Reading will fill the void left by Chris Stokes, who has departed for Forest Green Rovers.

The youngster completes Stevenage’s transfer business, which has been solely focused on improving their attack. A whole host of strikers and creative players have arrived with Graham Westley transforming the squad inherited from Dino Maamria.

Westley has recruited a blend of youth, experience and non-league talent to get them out of trouble. Simeon Jackson is an excellent signing at this level. The Canadian brings plenty of experience. Non-league stars Joe Leesley and Jake Cassidy have points to prove and will want to showcase their abilities in the Football League.

Youngsters Daniel Kemp and Patrick Reading arrive unproven but determined to showcase their skills and help Stevenage escape the drop. It’s a huge risk to make this many signings so quickly. Westley needs to get them going and fast.

Reading completes Westley’s jigsaw as he plots survival in League Two. The full-back will look to make a good impression in his first move into senior football. He joins a difficult situation but, its certainly one he can thrive off. Westley clearly has faith in Reading to bring him to the club.

He is ineligible for tomorrow’s game against Leyton Orient but will be available for their next league game in eight days time.
