Middlesbrough Sign Midfielder Ravel Morrison
The Deal
Middlesbrough announced via their website they had signed the midfielder. Morrison arrives on loan for the remainder of the season.
He arrives as Middlesbrough’s fourth January as Middlesbrough look to continue their improved run of performances and results. Morrison has barely featured since joining Sheffield United in the summer. He is a player that possesses quality and Jonathan Woodgate will hope can unlock that.
Morrison began his career at Manchester United before joining West Ham United. He made just 18 appearances for the Hammers and spent time out on loan at Birmingham City, Queens Park Rangers and Cardiff City. His best spell arguably came at QPR. He scored six goals in 15 games for the R’s.
His form got him a move to Lazio in 2015. However, he made just four appearances for the Serie A giants. He re-joined QPR on loan and had a spell at Mexican club Atlas.
Morrison could a creative spark Middlesbrough have craved. Despite their upturn in form, Boro still struggle to score goals on a consistent basis. Their midfield certainly lacks creativity. Morrison could be that spark if Jonathan Woodgate can get the best out of him.
Morrison has endured a difficult career and struggled to settle anywhere he has played. A move to Middlesbrough could be the start of a permanent home for Morrison if he seizes his opportunity.
His main task is ensuring Middlesbrough continue to climb the table with Boro closer to the drop than the play-off places. The move certainly suits all parties with Morrison looking for game, Sheffield United wanting to make space and Boro needing a creative midfielder.
