Carlisle United have confirmed that they have signed striker Lewis Alessandra on a contract until the end of the season.
Lewis Alessandra Joins Carlisle United on a Deal Until the End of the Season
Career So Far
Alessandra began his career with Oldham Athletic. He spent four seasons with the then League One club, scoring seven times in 67 appearances.
He then dropped down a division to join Morecambe. During a two-year spell, he registered seven goals.
The 30-year-old had spells with Plymouth Argyle, York City, Rochdale and Hartlepool United before joining Notts County.
During his two-year spell at Meadow Lane, he became a fans’ favourite, scoring seven goals and registering five assists in his first season with the club.
Following County’s relegation, Alessandra re-joined Morecambe last summer. He scored five times in 22 appearances in League Two, before making the move to Carlisle United.
Vital Attacking Experience
Carlisle United manager Chris Beech spoke to the official Carlisle United website about his new signing. He said: “He’s an experienced player who was available, and it’s not a loan, which is excellent.
“It’s a permanent signing and he’s got a lot to prove in terms of what he can offer us, so we’ve put him on a contract that represents that. I know him from the past and he’s a very professional person.
“He’s an excellent finisher, he’s bright and he’s been a big part of the first half of the season with goals and assists at his previous club, and he’s actually very good at starting goals, which isn’t often logged. That’s because assists are taken as the last pass before a goal, but he’s often had a hand in, or been the creator of, many goals his teams score.
““I’m just really happy and pleased that he’s here.
“He brings a wealth of experience, he’s played at a lot of football clubs and he’s scored in different divisions.
