Cambridge United Sign Midfielder Idris El Mizouni on Loan From Ipswich Town

Cambridge United have signed midfielder Idris El Mizouni on loan from Ipswich Town for the rest of the season. The midfielder has arrived as the U’s first January signing.

Cambridge announced via their website they had signed the midfielder. El Mizouni arrives on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 19-year-old Tunisian international arrives as Cambridge’s first January signing. This will also be his first taste of League football.

El Mizouni is seen as a future prospect and certainly someone Paul Lambert likes having made nine appearances this season for the Tractor Boys.

Colin Calderwood has been on the hunt for creativity and goals in midfield. He will be confident El Mizouni can fill that void.

He could make his debut this weekend when Cambridge head to the Globe Arena to face rock bottom Morecambe.

What Was Said

Speaking to the Cambridge website about his new signing, Colin Calderwood said: “When we found out about the possibility of a loan for him, we moved swiftly.”

“Had he have been out there for another day or so, numerous other clubs would have jumped in. He’ll add to our attacking threat – he has an athleticism to go with his footballing ability.”

Cambridge Confirm Departure of Defender Louis John

As well as announcing the arrival of Idris El Mizouni, Cambridge have also confirmed the departure of Louis John.

John has completed a permanent move to National League side Sutton United. The defender re-joined Sutton in November on an initial loan have played for the club previously.

However, he has now made that move permanent. In a statement on the Cambridge website, the club said, “Cambridge United can confirm that defender Louis John has left the Club in order to sign a permanent deal with Sutton United where he has been on loan since November.”

“We wish Louis all the best for the future and thank him for his efforts.”
