Colchester United have made their first January signing. The U’s have signed defender Tafari Moore on loan from Plymouth for the rest of the season.
Colchester Sign Defender Tafari Moore on Loan From Plymouth
Colchester announced via their website they had signed the centre back. Moore arrives from Colchester’s promotion rivals Plymouth on loan for the remainder of the season.
Moore is Colchester’s first addition in the transfer window. The U’s have been quiet in this window with Moore their only arrival as well as an extension on Theo Robinson’s loan.
John McGreal has been on the hunt for a centre back and Moore was available after struggling to impress Plymouth manager Ryan Lowe.
Moore exits Home Park looking for some much-needed game time after struggling to make an impact.
At 22 years old, Moore brings plenty of experience. He was part of the Wycombe side which reached League One in 2018. He has also spent time abroad with Dutch side FC Utrecht.
That experience could be vital for Colchester’s vibrant, young time. McGreal has been chasing a centre back to add a much-needed option at the back.
Moore went straight into the starting eleven after his move was confirmed. He played 64 minutes of Colchester’s win against Macclesfield on Saturday. His match sharpness may not be at its best, but he could be a key player between now and the end of the season.
Plymouth Confirm Moore’s Departure
The Pilgrims also confirmed Moore’s temporary move to Colchester via a statement on their website.
Plymouth confirmed, “Tafari Moore is joining Colchester United on loan for the remainder of the 2019-20 season.”
“The young defender moved to Home Park in the summer of 2018, having learned his trade in the Academy at Arsenal.”
“He has been unable to make the breakthrough to Ryan Lowe’s first-team plans for Argyle this season and had been told he was free to find another club for regular football.”
“All of us at Home Park wish Taf the best of luck in his new chapter at Colchester.”
