Oldham Athletic have confirmed that they have signed striker Danny Rowe from AFC Fylde on an 18-month contract.

Oldham Atheltic Sign Striker Danny Rowe

Prolific Striker in Non-League

Rowe is renowned for his goal-scoring abilities in non-league, and has finally made the step up to the Football League.

Last season saw the 29-year-old score an impressive 27 goals in 45 appearances as Fylde finished fifth in the Vanarama National League.

However, that was not Rowe’s most prolific season during his time with the club. He scored 47 goals as Fylde won the 2016/17 National League North.

In total, Rowe registered 192 goals in 293 games.

What Was Said

David Haythornthwaite, chairman of AFC Fylde, acknowledged the forward’s contributions when speaking to the official Fylde website: “Danny has been an amazing servant for the club and helped us get where we are today and for that we will forever be in his debt.

“It’s common knowledge I didn’t want him to go and nor did we need to sell him.

“However, after discussing it with Jim Bentley, we agreed it would be unfair to deny him the opportunity to ply his trade at a higher level.

“We wish him every success at his new club.”

Fifth January Signing as Danny Rowe Arrives at Oldham Athletic

The arrival of Rowe at Boundary Park signals the fifth January signing for Dino Maamria.

The Oldham boss has already added two strikers to his squad, with Zak Dearnley joining on a permanent deal until the end of the season, while Emmanuel Dieseruvwe joins on loan from Salford City.

However, with Rowe’s prolific goal-scoring record, it is likely he may earn a starting spot.

Maamria has also added defender Carl Piergianni and Christian N’Guessan to his squad, both of whom have joined on loan from Salford and Burnley retrospectively.

Oldham currently sit 18th in League Two on 28 points, and host fellow strugglers Carlisle United at Boundary Park on Saturday 18 January.
