Ligue 1 Transfer Window: Five Players Who Could Be on the Move

Ligue 1 transfer window

The transfer window has flung open its doors across Europe as teams get ready to strengthen their squads. From the Premier League to Ligue 1, it is expected to be a busy start to 2020. Here we assess five players could leave during the Ligue 1 transfer window.

Five Ligue 1 Players Who Could Move in January

Moussa Dembele – Continuing to Deliver For Lyon

Lyon’s main striker has impressed during his 18 months back in his home nation. The striker has continued to score goals, notching ten in the league so far this campaign. He has played well despite Lyon’s inconsistent first half of the campaign. Lyon would be reluctant to let him leave following Memphis Depay’s season-ending injury.

Every player has their price, though. Manager Rudi Garcia will be desperate to keep him as Lyon look to strengthen their squad in the window. However, with big clubs across Europe looking at their main striker, Lyon could well be forced to replace the striker.

Axel Disasi – Emerging as a Real Talent in French Football

The young centre half has sparkled in a rock-solid Reims defence. Disasi has grown with each season and the 21-year-old has plenty of potential to be one of the world’s best. It is no wonder the big French clubs like Lyon are looking at the talented centre-back.

Reims will demand big money for the cream of their crop. David Guion will be desperate to keep the centre back until at least the end of this season with Reims very much in contention for European football, but the young man certainly has a bright future and it’s no wonder he is attracting interest.

Victor Osimhen – Lille’s Talisman

The Nigerian striker only arrived from Charleroi in Belgium in the summer, but he is already attracting interest from some of Europe’s big clubs. Osimhen has adapted brilliantly to French football and certainly has become Lille’s talisman following Nicolas Pepe’s departure.

Osimhen has notched ten league goals and won Player of the Month during his six months in French football. He has proven he has the qualities to play at a higher level. Lille have been open to selling in the past but will demand big money once again to allow the Nigerian to leave mid-season. Christophe Galtier wants to keep him with Lille pushing hard for a Champions League place for next season.

Baptiste Santamaria – Angers’ Prized Asset

The midfielder has been a main fixture in Angers’ midfield since their promotion a few seasons ago. The Frenchman is getting better and better with his excellent passing and tenacious attitude in the heart of Angers midfield. It is no surprise he is attracting interest across Europe.

There is a clause in his contract which says he can leave the club in 2020 with the midfielder desperate to prove himself on a much bigger stage. However, Angers will want good money to let their prized asset depart the club in January at least. With interest from much bigger clubs, it could be a struggle for Angers to resist any offer which comes in.

Boubakary Soumare – One of France’s Brightest Talents

While Victor Osimhen has won the plaudits for Lille, young midfielder Boubakary Soumare has shown how talented he is both in the league and the Champions League. The young French midfielder has seriously impressed and it’s no wonder there is interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs. Soumare has demonstrated his excellent ball-playing skills but also his brilliant athleticism and reading of the game.

Lille have been open to offers for any of their players with Financial Fair Play still hanging over the club. It would take a big offer for Lille to sell their prized asset certainly in January, but you never know who might bid.
