Oxford United secured a record-breaking away win in the Football League as Karl Robinson’s side eased past Lincoln City at Sincil Bank.
A Tariqe Fosu hat trick and goals from Jamie Mackie, James Henry and Matty Taylor gave the U’s an emphatic victory, extending their unbeaten run to three.

After what felt like a disappointing goalless draw at Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday night, Oxford fans then felt even more dissatisfied when Lincoln appointed former U’s boss Michael Appleton as their new head coach.
Appleton won’t take charge of his first game until next week at Blackpool, but he oversaw his new side’s demolition at the hands of his former employers.
Oxford started brightly and found the net after just five minutes when Fosu struck home from 20 yards.
Lincoln struggled to get themselves into the game and Fosu added a second before the break, latching on to a terrific ball from Ben Woodburn before rounding the goalkeeper.
Lincoln had their first shot on the stroke of half time, but it was comfortable for Simon Eastwood to deal with.
The second half saw an already eager U’s side find another gear, and Mackie added a third just a few minutes in, curling home brilliantly.
Minutes later, Henry added a fourth when Woodburn’s shot was blocked before the midfielder volleyed home.
Fosu completed a thoroughly deserved hat trick soon after, running freely in the opponents half before finding the top corner from 30 yards.
Second-half substitute Matty Taylor netted his first U’s goal since returning to the club on loan to seal a record-breaking away day.
Seven Points out of Nine
When Oxford beat Tranmere 3-0 last weekend, it ended a run of five games without a win, with four of those ending in defeat.
Since then, Robinson’s side have picked up seven points from a possible nine, scoring nine goals and keeping three successive clean sheets.
It is evident this Oxford squad has masses of potential, and it’s only a matter of time before they use it to perform. They’ve played well in large parts of games, but the last three results have highlighted the fact that they have now seemed to have found the formula for both ends of the field.
