The four English sides – alongside their 28 competitors – have found out who they will be facing in Europe after the Champions League group stage draw was made. Liverpool famously made it six Champions League titles last season, defeating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the final.
2019/20 UEFA Champions League Group Stage Draw
English Sides
The reigning champions Liverpool have been drawn in Group E alongside Napoli. The Reds faced the Serie A side in the same stage last season and narrowly beat them in the final group game to edge through to the knockout stages thanks to a goal from Mo Salah. As well as Napoli, Liverpool will also head to Austria to face Red Bull Salzburg and Belgium to face Genk.
Premier League winners Manchester City have been handed a kind draw and will face Shakhtar Donetsk, Dinamo Zagreb and Atalanta in Group C. Similar to Liverpool, City also faced Ukranian side Shaktar in the same stage last season, defeating them in both occasions.
Chelsea have also been dealt a kind draw. They will face last season’s semi-finalists Ajax in Group H, as well as Valencia and Lille.
Tottenham have been given the tough task of facing German champions Bayern Munich in Group B. They last faced the Bundesliga champions in 1983. Furthermore, Tottenham have also drawn against Olympiacos and Red Star Belgrade, both tough away trips.
Notable Draws
Thirteen-time winners Real Madrid will face Paris Saint-Germain in Group A, as well as Club Brugge and Galatasaray. Los Blancos were knocked out in the Round of 16 last season.
The group of death this year looks to be Group F, possessing Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Inter Milan and Slavia Prague
