EFL League Two Review: Matchweek 2

EFL League Two review

Welcome back to Last Word On Football’s League Two review. Matchweek 2 saw just three teams continue 100% starts to the season, while there are a further three sides yet to get off the mark.

EFL League Two Review

Iron Sink to the Bottom

Scunthorpe United were expected to be one of the front-runners in League Two this season, and they might still be as the campaign progresses. However, if this start is anything to go by, they will have their work cut out.

Lee Novak gave them the lead just after the re-start against Cheltenham Town, but the hosts recovered from last week’s loss to Leyton Orient to hit four goals and condemn Scunthorpe to the bottom with a -5 goal difference.

Ryan Broom and Charlie Raglan turned the game around to put Cheltenham ahead before Alex Addai and Connor Thomas added some gloss to the scoreline.

Macclesfield off the Mark

Sol Campbell’s Macclesfield Town got off the mark by thrashing Leyton Orient 3-0 at Moss Rose.

The O’s had made a winning start to life back in League Two last season but came back to earth with a thud in Cheshire.

Theo Archibald opened the scoring in the first half with a peach of an effort that curled over Dean Brill, and that was added to later in the second half by Paddy Osadebe and Theo Vassell to leave Macclesfield in the dizzying heights of eighth place, having spent so much of last season at the bottom.
