Crystal Palace club captain Luka Milivojevic has signed a new four-year deal to extend his stay at Selhurst Park.
Luka Milivojevic Extends Stay At Crystal Palace
Last Season
The Serbian international was ever-present in Roy Hodgson’s side last season. He did not miss a minute of Premier League action for the Eagles.
He was an integral figure for Palace in terms of goals too, top-scoring with 12 last season. Ten of those goals came from the penalty spot, as the captain stepped up to the plate on a number of occasions last season.
What Was Said
Steve Parish, Crystal Palace chairman, expressed his delight to the official Crystal Palace website. He said: “Luka has been a fantastic player and leader for the club for two and a half years.
“His contribution really has been immense and I am delighted that he has agreed to pledge his long-term future to the club.”
Soften The Blow Of The Transfer Window?
Many Crystal Palace fans were not pleased with their sides dealings in the summer transfer window, despite holding onto talisman Wilfried Zaha. Roy Hodgson has arguably left himself short at right-back and upfront, two key areas that they need to strengthen. However, tying down Milivojevic may ease frustrations.
Crystal Palace did in-fact strengthen in the central midfield. They signed James McCarthy on a permanent transfer from Everton, and he was joined by Spaniard Victor Camarasa on a season-long loan. It was a position that they arguably did not need to strengthen in.
The 28-year-old Serbian will prove a key figure for Crystal Palace once again this season. He promises both goals and battling performances in the centre of midfield, something that has made a fans’ favourite at Selhurst Park. He is likely to be one of the first names on the team sheet ahead of their opening game.
