Harvey Elliott has signed for Liverpool, with the 16-year-old departing from Fulham. The midfielder has much to learn but is the youngest player to grace the Premier League.
Harvey Elliott Transfers to Liverpool
Who is This Young Prodigy?
The young player was in high demand this summer. Jake Polden of The Mirror claims that he attracted both Real Madrid and Barcelona. Fulham attempted to keep the player at the club with a scholarship. Elliott turned this down to instead play for his dream club.
Elliott is an attacking midfielder, playing out wide and also as an inside forward. At such a young age he could mould into any kind of position around this area, though. He cannot sign a professional deal with Liverpool yet since he is too young. However, he will sign a scholarship deal with his new club that will enable this in a years time. He then will be able to be carefully looked after by the club staff, who have a serious young talent on their hands.
Liverpool Building
After winning the Champions League from two successive attempts, Liverpool are on a high. They have won the most coveted trophy in Europe. And now they will want to consolidate this progress.
Other than 17-year-old Sepp van den Berg, Liverpool have been quiet in acquiring players this summer. Part of this is due to the brilliant squad they have. There is still time to add to it, as they should do, with rivals rebuilding their squads. However, it is important for clubs to invest in youngsters who will bring them future glories.
Thus, signings like Harvey Elliott may not make headlines in terms of massive pricetags and promised goal returns. But, instead, Elliott is an important investment not only in young English talent but in securing Liverpool’s foundations for future attempts at domestic and European glory.
