Career So Far
After taking over at Brentford in 2013 from Uwe Rosler, Warburton guided the Bees to an automatic promotion place in League One. In the following campaign, his only full one at Griffin Park, he got his newly-promoted side into the Championship play-offs – the club’s highest league position since 1934/35.
Warburton took over at Scottish side Rangers in 2015 and won promotion back to the SPL and the Scottish Challenge Cup in his first season at Ibrox. He also guided his side to the final of the Scottish Cup.
After leaving Rangers in December 2016 with them second in the table, he moved on to Nottingham Forest, spending nine months at the City Ground before leaving in December 2017.
The Opinions
QPR Director of Football Les Ferdinand told the club’s website: “This is a fantastic appointment. We spoke with a number of excellent candidates for the position and Mark ticked all the boxes for us.
“He loves working with younger players and developing them, and has a great understanding of the game.
“Mark is determined to be a success and we will be giving him our full support to achieve that.”
Club chairman Amit Bhatia added: We are all delighted to bring Mark in. The excellent work by John Eustace as interim manager enabled us to spend the required time speaking with suitable candidates.
“I am very pleased with how the recruitment process was carried out, as well as the end result which sees us appoint Mark as our manager.”
The club say that a further announcement will be made in due course regarding the backroom staff for Warburton’s tenure.
