Potential Destinations For Salomon Rondon

Salomon Rondon

Newcastle United striker Salomon Rondon is likely to be of interest to many Premier League clubs in the summer transfer window. The Venezuelan has scored ten goals so far this season, with three in his last six games. He also has a release clause of £16.5 million in his West Bromwich Albion contract. Several Premier League clubs will be interested in his services.

Potential Destinations For Rondon

Newcastle United

His current loan side are likely to be first in the queue to sign Rondon. The striker has suited Rafa Benitez’s system at Newcastle. Rondon plays alongside Ayoze Perez up front in a 5-3-2 formation.

A move to Newcastle may depend on whether Rafa Benitez remains at St James’ Park. The Spaniard is out of contract at the end of the season. However, he looks set to sign a new deal.

Crystal Palace

With a shortfall of goal-scoring strikers, he may prove a good fit for Crystal Palace. Michy Batshuayi is likely to return to parent club, Chelsea. The price tag of the Belgian is likely to put Palace off, as Chelsea want £40 million for the striker.

This leaves Palace with only three strikers on their books, as Jordan Ayew is also likely to return to his parent club. Both Christian Benteke and Connor Wickham have proven unreliable in recent times. They have both struggled with injuries but it is also in front of goal where problems have occurred. Benteke is yet to register on the goal chart this season, while Wickham has just the one.

Therefore, South London may be a potential destination for Salomon Rondon. He would suit Roy Hodgson’s style of play, as well as proving to be a cheap option compared to the prices of other strikers.

West Ham

Could the Venezuelan replace Marko Arnautovic at West Ham? Arnautovic was reportedly looking for a move away in the January transfer window. He looked set to move to China, but that move broke down and he remained at the London Stadium. However, West Ham fans want to see the Austrian leave the club and claim ‘he’s not been interested‘.

As a result, West Ham may be looking for a striker to compete with Javier Hernandez on a regular basis. Andy Carroll can prove unreliable due to his injury record, while Lucas Perez has not hit the ground running since his move. Therefore, Manuel Pellegrini may turn to Rondon.
