Fabrizio Romano has reported that Arsenal fullback, Lino Sousa is set to join Premier League club Aston Villa in the final hours of the transfer window. The Italian journalist has given his trademark “here we go” stamp to the move.

The transfer market is starting to pick up pace as deadline day approaches. Villa have been active in the winter transfer window to bolster their squad. The English club is set to reinforce their left-back position by bringing in Arsenal’s 19-year-old Sousa. The clubs have an agreement in place for the player, according to the transfer market insider.

The “wonderkid” fullback will move to the Birmingham-based side on a permanent transfer and there is no mention of Arsenal having a buy-back option in the contract per Romano’s report. The medical tests will be carried out in the coming hours before the paperwork is done in order to finalise the deal. The Villa Park-based team was not the only one vying for Sousa’s signature. Italian giants Juventus, Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray as well as Scottish side Rangers were all interested in capturing the youngster.
Villa’s Transfer Window So Far and Unai Emery’s Comments on Transfer Activity
Villa have been more active than some of the other Premier League clubs in the January transfer window. Belgian midfielder, Leander Dendoncker has left the side to join Napoli in Italy.
In terms of incoming, young right-back Kosta Nedeljkovic of Red Star Belgrade is now on the books of Emery’s side, however, he will stay at Red Star till the end of the season on loan. The latest signing for The Lions is talented attacker Morgan Rogers. Emery said in his press conference that the team will try to bring on more players before the transfer window shuts in order to bolster the squad.
