Sky Sports have provided an update on the ongoing transfer saga surrounding Kieran Trippier. Bayern Munich are pushing for the player’s signature and Newcastle have now put their demands on the table over a potential departure.

Newcastle Set the Price Tag for Their Star

The Bundesliga giants want to sign Trippier from Newcastle in January. Florian Plettenberg revealed yesterday that the clubs have entered into the negotiations stage in order to come to an agreement. However, there are still no breakthroughs in the negotiations as the English team do not want to let him go easily.

The Magpies have set the price tag in the region of £11 million to £12 million for their “outstanding” star. It remains to be seen if Bayern are willing to match the asking price. The Premier League side had signed the Englishman for a transfer fee of £12 million from Atletico Madrid in 2022 and have valued him at roughly the same price to recoup their investment.

Trippier ‘Not Very Cheap’ for Bundesliga Giants

According to Plettenberg, the 33-year-old is not a unanimous choice in the Bavarian’s decision-making room. The main point of concern is the financial aspect of the deal. Apart from the transfer fee demanded by the Premier League club, Trippier’s salary is close to £7 million which is a concern for Bayern bosses.

He is not the only option the German giants are pursuing. PSG’s Nordi Mukiele is also a serious target. However, the French champions’ demand for a permanent transfer or an obligatory buy option in case of a loan deal is proving to be an obstacle in the negotiations. At the moment, the Newcastle right-back is the “hottest option” for the 33-time Bundesliga champions but things could change.
