Arsenal have had a strange last few weeks as they have been eliminated from the 2023/24 FA Cup and have not been able to score a goal in their last two home games. Amid the fans’ cry for a new striker, Brentford star Ivan Toney has now delivered an interesting comment on his future.

What Did Toney Say Ahead Of His Return?
Arsenal have been reported to have an interest in signing the English forward, who will now be able to play for Brentford after his ban for breaching gambling rules ended on January 16. Ahead of his return for Thomas Frank’s side, Toney was asked if he is willing to move to a major club anytime soon and told Sky Sports: “You can never predict when is the right time to move elsewhere, but I think it’s obvious I want to play for a top club.
“Everybody wants to play for a top club, that is fighting for titles. Whether it’s this January that is the right time for a club to come in and pay the right money, who knows? But my main focus is to do what I do on the pitch, and let the background work take care of itself.”
Do Arsenal Have Plans For Striker Signing In January?
Despite calls from some supporters for the Gunners to splash the cash on a striker like Toney, it doesn’t appear that they have any immediate plans to do so. Mikel Arteta already reiterated that it would be unrealistic to expect Arsenal to sign a new forward anytime soon and that they need to support their existing striker options for the time being.

The North London heavyweights have not signed any player in the January transfer after splurging big money to sign players like Declan Rice and Kai Havertz last summer. Toney, who was hailed as “remarkable” by Thomas Frank last year, will meanwhile be like a new signing for Brentford with his return after he scored 20 goals in 33 Premier League matches last season.
