‘From What I’m Hearing’: Romano Gives Update on Tottenham’s Chase for ‘Fantastic’ £43 Million Chelsea Target

Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup Vs Arsenal for September 15

Tottenham Hotspur are flying high at the start of the 2023/24 Premier League season even after losing star striker Harry Kane to Bayern Munich in the summer. Despite that, it appears that Ange Postecoglou might be looking into signing his direct replacement sometime in 2024.

Tottenham Hotspur Interested in Feyenoord Striker Santiago Gimenez

Tottenham’s Feelings on Gimenez Clarified

Fabrizio Romano says “From what I heard”, Tottenham appreciate the quality of Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez, who has been impressing in the Eredivisie this season. It is stated that Spurs have sent their scouts to get a closer look at his performances, but that they have had scouts watching the Dutch team since last season due to their interest in manager Arne Slot.

With that being said, the journalist reaffirms that the Lilywhites will continue to monitor the progress of the 22-year-old striker, who has been attracting interest from other teams, including Chelsea. Romano claims that it’s difficult to exactly state how much he could be sold for next year, but that it seems likely that it’ll be around the £43 million region. Spurs are yet to spend their Harry Kane money to sign a new out-and-out striker and they are tracking the Mexican’s development and analyzing if he can be an ideal successor to him.

Who Is Santiago Gimenez?

The 22-year-old forward has been on fire for Feyenoord in the Netherlands and taken the Eredivisie by storm so far. He has scored 13 goals in just 10 league appearances so far, also providing three assists. Gimenez scored a brace in his side’s 3-1 win over Lazio as well in the UEFA Champions League recently.

He has come a long way from his heroics last season, when he scored 15 goals in 32 league appearances. Gimenez is a quick, clinical goal-scorer who thrives in the final third. Interestingly, he currently has no agent representing him and the only person to take care of his future talks is his father. The Mexican forward was hailed as “fantastic” by Feyenoord legend Mario Been earlier this season and is guaranteed to attract more interest from major clubs if he can continue his goal-scoring heroics until the end of the season.
